From Tehran, painting in Zurich.
I paint every chance I get. What I am chasing is a feeling, the kind you carry with you after meeting someone, and paint is the only language I have for it.
My work lives between two places. It grew out of my Persian heritage, from a time when I needed to find my culture again, and the more I missed it the more I made. Moving to Switzerland turned my portraits into abstraction and shifted the way I see identity. I resist labels, but sometimes I still need to name myself to feel less alone in a big world. These paintings are me stepping out of home, the world I know, and becoming a new person, holding the memory of all my homes at once.
Mediums
Mixed media. Mostly acrylic and oil, often finished with marker.
Alongside my own practice I run Sip N Paint Club, creative painting events across Switzerland where anyone can pick up a brush.
